Intended Parent(s) Psychological Consultation

An intended parent psychological consultation is a session designed to support individuals or couples through the emotional and psychological aspects of the surrogacy or egg/sperm donation process. The consultation typically involves exploring expectations, addressing important issues, as well as concerns or challenges, regarding the journey ahead, as well as the preparation for it. It covers a wide variety of aspects surrounding the journey to parenthood, and it ensures that intended parents are mentally and emotionally equipped to navigate the complexities of assisted reproduction.

  • I have recently added a new, second type of Intended Parent(s) Consultation - the “Intended Parent(s) Consultation + Journey Mapping”

Standard IP consultation: 75 minutes, and the fee is $250.

Expanded IP Consultation + Journey Mapping: 120 minutes, and the fee is $375.

Note that both consultation types satisfy the IVF clinic requirements, and both include the written report that is sent to your clinic. However, the longer session allows us to go further in depth and allots time to mapping the journey ahead.

(Please note: All credit card transactions are subject to a 4% processing fee.)

  • Yes, the consultation fee includes both the consultation itself and the report that I write and send to your relevant fertility clinic.

  • Yes, most…

Regardless of the appointment type you choose, I would suggest please allowing for an additional fifteen minutes for the appointment, in case it goes a bit long and/or if you have questions for me.

As for the consultation, it does not constitute therapy and no assessment, diagnosis, or treatment is completed. It is a psychoeducational consultation, intended to discuss several aspects of the assisted reproductive technology/IVF/surrogacy process. After our meeting, I will write and send a report to the relevant fertility clinic you are working with. Depending on the state/country where the birth will be, your fertility clinic may also provide it to your attorney, who may also include it with a motion for parentage with the relevant state court.

  • The policy at Sam Cohen Paz Therapy is that everyone is treated as a person deserving compassion, care, respect, and reverence. This includes mutual respect for scheduling and appointments.

Things come up and plans change, and that is completely understandable. With regards to the practice’s scheduling policies, it is kindly asked that you give 48 hours notice before a cancellation or reschedule in order to avoid the cancelation/reschedule fee. This fee is the full amount of the appointment type for reschedules/cancelations/no shows. Please reach out via phone or email to reschedule or cancel so that you can find an appointment that better fits your schedule.
